Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is a feminist media critic also a speaker who is Canadian. She founded Feminist Frequency which is a website that features videos and comments discussing the depictions of females in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Aiming to break down the stereotypes that are associated with females in popular culture, she is a vocal advocate for issues relating to the targeted harassment of women as well as other classes of individuals in the internet world. A graduate in political and social thought at York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after presenter and has presented speech at the TEDxWomen Festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. She was interested in feminist issues, gender and gender equality from a very young age. In 2009, when she was still studying at university, she created her Feminist Frequency website. This ambitious woman planned to launch an internet program that would examine gender representation in games, however, she was also the subject of an online campaign to harass her. However the attack could not deter her instead it was a boost to her determination to be a feminist media critic. Her notable contributions to the field of feminists have been recognized by numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for several years and was the creator of Feminist Frequency.
